Ohio QB Holds Four Offers

After a transfer to Middletown Fenwick, senior quarterback Ricky Davis finally got the chance to be a starter, and he certainly made the most of the opportunity. Davis has four offers and is hoping for more.

It took until his senior year of high school, but Ricky Davis finally got the chance to be a starting quarterback this season. Davis transferred to Middletown (OH) Fenwick prior to this season, and made the most of his chance.

Davis, 6-foot-3, 200-pounds, impressed last summer on the camp and combine circuit, and that showing carried over to the season.

"This year I came out with a chip on my shoulder, and I came to Fenwick with a purpose in mind," Davis admitted. "I wanted to prove what I could do, and that motivated me to have a great season and help get my team to the playoffs. We ran the Wing-T and I also got to run the ball a lot, as well as throw it, which made me a more rounded quarterback."

"We probably threw the ball 15-20 times per game, and things went really well," he added. "Throwing the football is what I do best, and that's my strength as a quarterback. I need to work on getting faster and stronger, like all players do."

Davis has picked up four offers to date, and is in contact with other schools.

"I have offers from Bowling Green, Kent State, Akron and Western Kentucky," he stated. "My coach said I'm supposed to be offered by Army this week, but I haven't heard that from them yet. I have not committed to anyone yet, and I'm in touch with all of the schools that have offered."

"I feel like I'm going to wait and see if any new offers come in, but I'm not sure how long I will wait," he continued. "I have had contact with Penn State, but I know they have a quarterback committed. Louisville has been in touch, and I'm interested in them. They want me to take an official visit, and I'm going to do that. I would like to make my decision and have this done by Christmas, and not drag it out."

As a senior, Davis threw for over 1,200 yards with 17 touchdown passes. He also ran for five scores on the ground.
